...I've been to the movies three times this week.

~*~
~*~

I think it goes unsaid that Indiana Jones is probably something that I'm just going to wait and download, since everyone went without me. If I'd known that, I probably would have waited to download the first three, but oh well, I've rewatched them all (I'd seen them, but on TV, and never all together or in the right order, and it had been a few years) and I may watch them again before I watch the new one. Lol.

you are lightcyan
#E0FFFF

Your dominant hues are green and blue. You're smart and you know it, and want to use your power to help people and relate to others. Even though you tend to battle with yourself, you solve other people's conflicts well.

Your saturation level is very low - you have better things to do than jump headfirst into every little project. You make sure your actions are going to really accomplish something before you start because you hate wasting energy making everyone else think you're working.

Your outlook on life is very bright. You are sunny and optimistic about life and others find it very encouraging, but remember to tone it down if you sense irritation.

Huh. The analysis is true enough, but I wanted to be purple...lol.

DIALECT MEME...
1. A body of water, smaller than a river, contained within relatively narrow banks.
Depending on my mood--probably a creek, but possibly a brook or stream.
2. What the thing you push around the grocery store is called.
Cart. Shopping cart, if it's not in immediate context (ie, not, "Can I put my purse in the cart?", but like "She was pushing a shopping cart around the city.")
3. A metal container to carry a meal in.
Bento box! Nah, probably a lunchbox. Unless it's mine.
4. The thing that you cook bacon and eggs in.
Frying pan.
5. The piece of furniture that seats three people.
Air mattress. (Haha, kidding, only at Kristy's house the last few weeks.) Couch.
6. The device on the outside of the house that carries rain off the roof.
Gutter. Also where many minds reside.
7. The covered area outside a house where people sit in the evening.
Porch. Possibly deck if it's high off the ground.
8. Carbonated, sweetened, non-alcoholic beverages.
Soda, if I'm not referring to it by the brand name.
9. A flat, round breakfast food served with syrup.
Pancakes. Or waffles, but I think there's only one name for those.
10. A long sandwich designed to be a whole meal in itself.
Ew. SubWay.
11. The piece of clothing worn by men at the beach.
Trunks.
12. Shoes worn for sports.
Tennis shoes (which I actually pronounce as one word, "tenni-shoes." My mother actually referred to them as tennies when I was a kid) or sneakers.
13. Putting a room in order.
Cleaning, organizing.
14. A flying insect that glows in the dark.
Lightning bug or firefly, more often than not the former. Funny, I never noticed that there were two different words for it until just now. Weird.
15. The little insect that curls up into a ball.
Roly-poly.
16. The children's playground equipment where one kid sits on one side and goes up while the other sits on the other side and goes down.
Seesaw or teeter-totter.
17. How do you eat your pizza?
By hand, generally, unless I'm with someone anal who uses a knife and fork, and I might follow suit. Maybe.
18. What's it called when private citizens put up signs and sell their used stuff?
Yard sale or garage sale, interchangeably. Flea market if they actually open up a shop.
19. What's the evening meal?
Dinner.
20. The thing under a house where the furnace and perhaps a rec room are?
Basement.
21. What do you call the thing that you can get water out of to drink in public places?
Drinking fountain. Ew. I'd have to be pretty desperate to use one.

1. My username is ______ because ______.
rena_librarian. Well, RenaissanceGrrl was taken (and continues to be taken) by some dominatrix who has a friends-only journal. Grr. I'd had to resort to renaissancegrrl_thelibrarian as my Yahoo! ID and LJ wouldn't take that many letters. I often answer to Rena on forums (Ren and RG and RGrrl aren't my cup of tea) so it just...made sense?

2. My name is _____ because ______.
Sarah, because my parents wanted to give me a Bible name. (After choosing names like Jennifer and Alicia) Suits me well enough, I suppose.

3. My journal is titled ____ because ____.
Until the Stars Are All Alight. It's a Tolkien quote (from the song Pippin sings in the movie) and I liked the reference to the stars. Also it generically refers to things getting better in the future. I suppose I might actually be due for a rename, lol. Things are good, other than the joblessness.

4. My journal subtitle is ____ because ____.
Call me 'cause I'm still awake. Slight paraphrase from Anna Nalick's "Breathe (2 AM)" because it's generally true--I'm very much a night owl.

5. My friends page is called ____ because ____.
Crazy People Who Like Me...which, uh...makes sense? Lol.

6. My default userpic is ____ because ____.
The Éowyn one Hobbity made for me...because I designed it and had it made for me.

LAST PERSON WHO...
Slept in your bed: Just moi.
Saw you cry: Huh. I can't even think of the last time I--oh snap. Kristy. Sorta. Over Sam.
Made you cry: Sam. But only a little.
Spent the night at your house: Nico.
You went to the movies with: Kristy, Jared, EJ...uh...Raymond was there, I THINK Dena was there, EJ's man whose name escapes me (but I know it starts with a J!), and a friend of theirs.
You went to the mall with: Kristy and Abi!
Yelled at you: Hmm...Nico, probably?
Sent you an e-mail: Uh...Maryanne sent me the Lions newsletter and if I got anything after that it was automated.
You kissed: No one. *sob*

HAVE YOU EVER...
Said "I love you" and meant it?: Not to a guy. Never said it. Wanted to. Would have meant it if I had.
Gotten in a fight w/your dog/cat/bird/fish,etc.: Uh, no.
Been to New York? I saw the Statue of Liberty from a grounded plane, and I think we drove through it once when I was a kid, but not in any kind of meaningful way.
Been to Florida? Lived there for six months. I turned three there.
California? Twice, I think. I was really little. WINCHESTER MANSION FTW!
Hawaii? No, and have no desire to go unless it has something to do with Lost.
Mexico? Yes, actually. DON'T DRINK THE WATER. IT'S ALL TRUE.
China? Nope.
Canada? Three times, if you count Niagara Falls when I was young enough to be in a stroller. Twice otherwise.
Danced naked? Mmm, not really. I get enough of a kick walking around in the process of changing clothes or getting ready for a shower.
Dreamed something really crazy and then it happened the next day: I've had lots of deja vus from dreams, but they take longer than the next day.
Wish you were the opposite sex? Mmm, only to escape my period. Girls kick ass.
Had an imaginary friend? More than one. And at ages I don't care to admit.

STUFF...
Have you ever loved someone you had no chance with: ...every time. And currently. -_-*
Have You Ever Cried Over Something Someone of The Opposite Sex Did: More than once...
Do You Have A "Type" Of Person You Always Go After: I think I do, but then I end up falling for someone completely NOT that type...
Want Someone You Don't Have Right Now: Yeah.
Ever Liked a close Guy/Girl Friend: Yeah...currently? I don't know that we're really friends but we spend a lot of time around each other because we have mutual friends that we're close to.
Are You Lonely Right Now: After those questions? Yeah.
Ever Afraid You'll Never Get Married: It's crossed my mind more than once.
Do You Want To Get Married: Oh, yes.
Do You Want Kids: Not in the slightest.

ETA: Sorry, the project has been canceled. Or at least postponed for the time being.

My neck really hurts and I was whining about it, and Kristy IM'd Abi, and Abi just brought one of those beany-filled neck-warmer thingys to me, already warmed up.

It feels really good, and maybe I'm crazy but I like the smell of it, too.

(FYI: I think I just slept on it wrong. I checked on Wikipedia and it's not meningitis, lol. I blame the Saddle Club book where Stevie's brother gets meningitis and too much House for making it pop into my head, though.)

It STILL hurts to laugh.

Still going to the Firehouse, but I'm probably going to do zero dancing. Bring on cute boys bearing drinks!!

Kristy went to Little Rock yesterday and brought me back an awesome Hello Kitty bracelet. I am loved.

So I haven't blogged in a few days; haven't really felt like it.

Short version: after our date on Wednesday, Sam broke up with me. To my face he said he didn't want to deal with the drama of a relationship and wasn't ready and blah blah blah--to Kristy, when asking for advice on how to go about it, he said that he wasn't attracted to me.

Well. Whether that's the truth or an excuse for his own shortcomings *coughpersonallyIthinkhe'schickenshitcough* I don't care--if he couldn't say so before going along with things, then, well, he's not mature enough to handle me. (Kristy went so far as to say women in general. *snerk*)

Kristy was deploying that night so I came up here to work to be consoled (Kristy is an awesome friend who gives awesome hugs) and she listened to me whine about it, and I was pretty much okay the next day. We took a two-hour lunch, though--went to El Charro's, went to Wal*Mart where we found Nico the black (fake) leather beanbags he's been wanting since he moved into his place, and took them to him at work, then got ice coffee/ice cream at McD's. ^_^ I had the hours to get away with it. Good day.

It took me about two days to figure out the life lesson, but I did find it: as much as I may have resigned myself to the fact that I'll probably never date a guy that I find completely hot (like, Elijah hot), there are in fact guys out there who will never do better than me. And yes, I do find this comforting, and no, I'm not sure whether that makes me confident or conceited. I care not. Somehow I came out of it feeling better about myself, so I don't want to overanalyze it. Anymore.

Though it feels like a bad omen; my first real relationship being capable of measurement in hours. (91, to be exact.) Which makes me wonder: should I even count it, or am I still capable of saying I've never really had a boyfriend?

The part that's comforting: from Brandon to Sam--six weeks. I remember when more than six months would pass before I'd come anywhere near having a new possibility.

While I was hanging out at Nico's yesterday, Sam delivered a pizza. I don't think he saw me, but I certainly saw him and his newly-pink hair. FTW? Neither one of us made any effort to say hi. Nico was all "Go say hi," and I was all "Pfft, no." He said he wanted to stay friends but frankly I don't want that kind of shallow in my life. I already have plenty of friends who are actually awesome, and not just surface awesome.

Moving along. Saw Shutter, it was good--though I thought it was about to end like three times before it actually did. The actual ending surprised me! Ask if you want details; I'll give them in comments.

On Saturday, Kristy, Abi, and I went to Springfield to go salsa dancing! We went to the mall and an Asian market (twice!). I bought a sake set  (sake to follow on payday...hope I like it!) and a bento box at the Asian market, and some green tea pocky (I couldn't taste the difference from regular pocky, but it's prettier), and a single-serving bottle of Calpico "non-carbonated soft drink." It was milk-based, and sweet, with Hello Kitty on the bottle! ^_^ Kristy bought Ramune drink, which comes in glass bottles but they don't have caps, they're sealed with a marble, and it comes with a plastic plunger and you have to pop the marble out. It falls into the bottle and shakes around. It's awesome, and tastes DEEEEELISH. ^_^ I put the bottle with all the other ones at the top of my kitchen.

Also found out that the Chinese restaurants in Mountain Home shop there. XD

Also, at the mall, at Hot Topic, I found the CHARLIE SHOES. Checkered. ^_^ I HAVE AWESOME SHOES. They're a brand name, which makes me feel kinda selloutish, but dude...it's CHARLIE SHOES. And it's a brand name that they had at Hot Topic, so yeah.

There's a Mexican guy who's on an eye level with my nipples that thinks I'm beautiful and he's in love with me. He's also very very drunk, but whatever. X3 I kind of thought that might happen at some point during our salsa evening (which kind of sucked in that they didn't play a single salsa song--we found out later that they've changed DJs, and it ended up being Firehouse sort of music for half the night), but the first guy to ask me to dance? -_-* Oh well. Lol. One of the guys was like "Come dance!" and I told him that we came to dance salsa, and they hadn't played any salsa, and what WAS this stuff? And he's like, "Is Walk It Out!" XD (Which I knew, but still. Lol.)

At least Abi met a decent guy. ^_^ I'm keeping my fingers crossed for her!

So last Wednesday at Lions (before the breakup, if you care about chronology), one of the older members caused some drama. Hard to explain, but he did it while Shelly Hill (reporting for the board, which is separate from the main club) was up in front of everyone, and he hardly let her get a word in edgewise. It was really embarrassing for everyone else in the room and he was wrong to boot. Afterward there was the social committee meeting (Shelly and I are both on it) and after that she kind of tried to explain what was going on, that his issue was old and had little to do with what he chose to throw a fit about, etc, etc. I went out of my way to stop her before she left and tell her that I thought he was way out of line. Some emails went around and Dad saw fit to copy this one to me:

I explained that it is the board they are upset with, and I happened to be there right then.  I think they even all have plans to attend the board meeting if at all possible to show their support.  Sarah was especially sweet…she waited until everyone was gone and expressed how she thought I did a good job.  What a very special girl you and Theresa have raised!  Congratulations on raising such a caring and compassionate young woman!

Shelly

^_^ And Dad had this to say at the beginning of it: Sarah - I thought you should see this.  Of course I’m always proud of you.

Aww. I feel loved. I really admire Shelly (even if she didn't hire me, lol--if I'd gotten the bank job last year she would have been my boss)--she's a woman who's really accomplished so much, she's very respected in the local business world and works so hard for the Lions--so I'm very flattered. ^_^

Torrent downloading = best. Technology. EVER!

So, in summation: Sam's a loser and it's very much his loss, Springfield is awesomer than I remembered from when we went there when I was a kid, I'm going to the Lions board meeting tomorrow, and I love my bento box.

At the costume party night before last, Abi asked me what I was, and when I told her I was the snow queen, she was all, "Ohh, I hate you." She was kidding, lol.

I told her I'd fix it so that it would snow everywhere except in a little circle right where she was, so just now I took my "wand" from my costume over to her cube and waved it around and I told her "Okay. Now it will never, EVER snow in your cube." Haha.

I plan on posting pics sometime this weekend. Rent is tonight, and we're going clubbing Saturday night, but other than that the weekend is mine to go crazy in. Hehe.

ETA: There was a deploy last night so Kristy's not here, she worked late yesterday and got even more hours last night. She left a note on my dry-erase board: "if you reading this...i was eated by teh ZOMBIEZ! my escape Routes not sufficient. zombies imune to stapelers. Take care of mah fishies. I love you all."

...had it been me, I would have left staples all over the floor, like we did at Taco Bell back when they had staplers that unfolded in the traditional way and the teenage guys used to have staple wars. More convincing that way. X3
