So I participated in a secret santa over on [livejournal.com profile] beyond_dapper. And today was a bad day. And I don't know what possessed me, but I made a video of myself opening my presents.

So yeah. That's me. =)

If you prefer, you can watch the whole concert on my website, via YouTube. I didn't want to have to re-upload to get it on my site, and YouTube has the nifty annotations.
rena_librarian: (Default)

This is the entire freaking concert. Enjoy. Please.

Any and all squees welcome. =)

Hahaha. This guy was (at the time) working in Augusta, Arkansas--this was blooper reel footage, it never made it to TV. He's since moved to Houston, Texas, and I dare say he likes the city better. =) Can't blame him a bit.

Crocs: the ugliest shoe manufactured in the history of the world. PERIOD. I don't even feel the need to defend myself here. Anyone who disagrees with me ought to be shot. I don't CARE if they're comfortable. So are 98% of all the shoes in my closet, and all of my shoes look good. (I daresay several pairs of my shoes even kick ass, but that's a separate issue.)

Today when I got to work, just as I was getting out of my car, my boss Terry was right across from me getting out of his car (which I SO want, it's a sweet little Geo Tracker, it's like a baby SUV, lol), and we ended up walking into the building together.

And he was wearing Crocs.

Worse yet, he was wearing Crocs with SOCKS.

To top it off, the socks were PEDS, so I almost didn't notice.

*headdeskheaddeskheaddeskheaddeskheaddesk*

Terry, Terry, Terry...whatever would William Sledd say?? (Check out his YouTube channel, William is a paragon of fabulousness. And might actually be on REAL TV in the near future!)

Actually...

(In case you don't get it, here's the annoying Chris Crocker video that everyone is parodying these days, including at least one of my favorite webcomics. I assure you that ALL the parodies are far, far funnier than the original video.)

(And on an only semi-related note, Nico's plan to grow his hair out and turn it into William Sledd's hair is working wonderfully. ^_^)

You all remember Gorgeous Tiny Chicken Machine Show??

Well, now there's FINALLY an EPISODE TWO!!

And a random MUSIC VID based on the show to boot!

A tip of the hat to [personal profile] gamgeefest for sharing...

Sorry if my previous entry is doing wacky things to your flist; it's eating up a lot of space on my LJ and I'm trying to edit it, but LJ says "the database is temporarily unavailable." So grr. I shall fix it tomorrow if it persists in refusing to work tonight, which it probably will as I'm only going to try it once more after I finish this and before I log off to go hang with Linnemann. ETA: FIXED!

In the meantime...Nico got a webcam. "You WILL suffer me!" (And hopefully you'll laugh and forget that my last post is screwing up your flist.)

Like it says in the video, feedback is appreciated! There might be more if Nico will continue to let me use his cam. ^_^

mmm, steak

So I went over to Chris's last night, ended up being invited to come to his parents' place for dinner. Had steak at his mom's house, which I find ironic since I met him working at the Steak House and all...

His asthma had flared up really bad thanks to the temperature change (he went out of town over the weekend, to Tulsa, where it's warmer), and he was wheezing most of the time I was with him. The night ended with him and his cousin dropping me off back at my car and her driving him to the emergency room. I called him today when I got off work and he said he was fine now, they gave him what he needed and sent him home. But DAMN. That's gotta suck more than anything in the world, not being able to BREATHE, you know? I knew he had asthma but I didn't realize how--well, hampering it was.

My damn Florence Nightengale complex is kicking in again, lol.

So Lost is on tonight...
And, because I know you all enjoy being amused...

Hee, Nico showed me this a while back and I accidentally stumbled across it again today. LJ Spotlight is featuring a community called YouTube Gold, and I now have a great place to go poke around when I have extra time, lol. (It's on the list of my friends on my profile, but for the sake of volume it won't be part of my flist.)

Since my last Elijah-media entry got a lot more lovin' than I thought, and since LJ seems to be a good way to be able to find these again, you're getting another Elijah/LotR-media entry! Yay! (Nico and others may resume reading after this.)

I think I just fell in love with Stephen Colbert. OMG.

*hearts*

Paris, Je T'Aime clip here (not YouTube...and OMG it's actually in French! Hope for a dubbed or subbed version DVD!)

And there was something about Elijah being Punk'd, but I posted that vid before and I couldn't get it to work and I doubt there was any new material, so forget that.

...is a good month to be an Elijah fangirl. He's got two movies hitting theaters:

Bobby:

Aaaaand, Happy Feet (this is a different trailer that's all Mumble!):
[Error: unknown template 'video']

Nico, up for seeing Bobby in theaters? It's, like...political. You should like it. XD

And, finally, something tangible about his film Paris, je t'aime: IMDB plot summary. Sadly, this is the first thing I've seen (save some supposedly-spoilerish stills from A&F) that makes any sense at all, lol. (If you have no clue what I'm talking about, you're either not an Elijah fan or you seriously need to follow that A&F link.)

And apparently his hair is growing back in. THANK GOD. This was taken fairly recently, and it wasn't for a movie:
(click for fullsize, 'cause I'm nice like that)
My Lord, the man even has great taste in hats. Let's hope that the Day Zero filming is over!

And now I shall settle back in my chair and realize that only three people on my flist, myself included, care in the slightest about any of this. XD

You Are 20% Slacker

You are anything but a slacker. You're truly a go getter.
You never let laziness get in the way of living your life - and you can't stand to see it in others.

But I'm too much of a slacker to lj-cut today. XD

You Are A Good Friend

You're always willing to listen
Or lend a shoulder to cry on
You're there through thick and thin
Many people consider you their "best friend"!

Yay me.

Had to share. Cracked me up.

And, just for Hobbity:

Hobbity, you have license to sniggle madly. All others: scratch your heads in wonderment and don't ask. It's an inside joke.

So I passed the Smellville-Scummit Yellville-Summit school today, and the lot was full of cars. Damn, children are present again, I shall have to watch my speed a bit more closely through there.

And then I got here to ASU and the parking lots were full--not just "Monday morning block class" full, but actually "OMG-where-the-heck-am-I-supposed-to-park?" full.

Yes, that's right, it's back-to-school time for a lot of people. (Which reminds me, I need to see if I can get Wigz to grab me a parking permit. Mwahaha.) It'll be interesting to see who works when now at Taco Bell, who's moving to days and who has to work nights and then go home and do homework. (That really sucks, I assure you!)

But I'm not among the crowds this year. I graduated, baby, and I think after fifteen straight years of schooling I deserve the time that I'm taking off--whether it be one year, or two, or ten.

I'm not going out to "find myself," I already know who I am--I just want time to enjoy being me. Get some other goals (okay, two) accomplished, make some art (Online? On canvas? On paper? Who knows?), and be relatively broke and bohemian and truly happy for a while.

Because, quite honestly, I can't say I've been really honestly completely happy at home for about seven years now. (I've had good times, but that's not the same thing.)

So I am saving money and getting things together (actually cutting back at the Steak House, three lunch shifts a week, since Taco Bell is almost certainly going to give me a dollar raise within a few weeks), and Nico and I are moving into an apartment, where I will have room to set up an easel and paint for the first time in roughly a year-and-half. And have a five-minute drive to work. And get in at dawn and not get yelled at.

And my parents are probably never going to forigve me, but I've moved beyond needing their approval. If they want me to remain unhappy then clearly my best interests are no longer their focus. I'm not the child that can be bribed into silence anymore. Damn it all, Harry Potter is good literature and I shouldn't have to be ashamed to say that!

So I'm making this move (pun not intended), and let the chips fall where they may. I dare say that six months after I move, when Mom realizes that I'm happier, healthier (between all the walks we'll take and the possibility of actually biking to work in good weather and having to live off what I can cook for myself, lol, I'm bound to lose even more weight), more involved in a church (I'll actually be able to get enough sleep to GO more often), she'll still say I'm wrong, but screw that. She can't see the forest for the trees.

I realized something the other day--I used to hear people talking about a person "using religion as a crutch." And I thought that that was all wrong--religion, by its definition, is there to help people find solace and cope with hard times. Nonbelievers may not get this (and that's fine), but sometimes it really does make you feel better if you pray, and a church family will help you through hard times like no one else can.

But what my mother is doing--insisting that I must be possessed by a demon to avoid admitting the truth to herself--THAT is using religion as a crutch.

And I have absolutely no respect for that. I can't.

And to keep you all from being totally depressed, a video clip of a Johnny Depp/Jack Sparrow impersonator, discovered by Dutch Angua of DLBE:

And, a fitting test to embedding video into LJ: The Happy Feet trailer. I <3 YouTube.

Wow, Nico, I don't know what YOU were doing wrong, but that was incredibly easy.

^_^ Click here and watch this guy get signatures to end women's suffrage. If you don't get it, don't ask me to explain it...and please, stop talking to me until you do. Really.

This is my best friend Kat's site. Go there or die. ^_- It's also been added to my links box at left. The best thing on there right now is Faerie Tale, which she has written for me as an ongoing birthday present. And she has pretty art for it too! I mean, look at this...

Click for full version--but if you steal this image, I will hunt you down.

Now, I have to finish writing a paper for Sociology. Grr.
