WON NANO.

Have a quiz.

You Are Level Headed

You have a wide set of interests, and you make for interesting company. You are witty and dynamic.

You seem impulsive, surprising, and unpredictable to outsiders.

You are good at understanding how all things work, except for people.

You can remain steady through a crisis - and other people lean on you.

Well, I've chosen my 12 names. I think I've got a good mix, from fairly realistic to Glee levels of exotic (we are talking, after all, about a show that had a female Quinn, and a Finn, who dated each other). I kind of went with a measure of how unusual the actual actors' names were, as well. I debated just using the actor names as character names, but the fact that one girl is named McKynleigh--when the show's school is William McKinley High School, often just referred to as McKinley--just made that feel unlikely and weird. In one case I did use their actual first name as the character's last name--Ellis was the name that was pushing me toward the "just use the actor names!" because seriously, how cool is Ellis as a first name for a girl?

I might be a bit biased, though, I used some names that reference things that have meaning to me. (Parker? Totally my niece's middle name, that I really wish she would use--and she may, when she gets to be a teenager and there's seven Madisons in her classes. Things like that.)

I have also started plotting out the relationships and--GAH. This is going to be fairly fun, methinks.

The hard part is going to be coming up with music--much as I love it, I'm not that up on the latest top 40, and my musical taste is, well, only mine. Musicals and oldies often elude me, at least until they use them on the show. But we'll manage.

And now it's time for the new episode. =) And dinner.

I added the five drabbles I wrote for the Kickstart Meme, you can check the list on the front page. =)

You Are Self-Assured

You are grateful for this life you've been given. You feel blessed for what you have.

You aren't about to apologize for who you are. You know you're not perfect, but you're still pretty darn great.

You are autonomous and fulfilled. You know how to make yourself happy.

You connect easily to other people. You can bond with almost anyone if you're given enough time.

Just got back from the ASUMH fireworks, which are probably the best in the state outside of the Little Rock area. Maybe Fayetteville. And next weekend we're going to St. Louis and I'll get to see EVEN BETTER ones. YAY!

Also just finished watching the Glee Project for this week (lol the next one's on tomorrow) and one of my favorites got kicked off (it isn't really a vote so much as Ryan Murphy gets to pick out of the bottom 3) so that's just kind of pushing me even harder to work on my AU idea.

Other stuff to write first. Getting on that now.

The first TEN people to comment in this post get to request that I write a drabble of any pairing or character of your choosing. In return, you are challenged to post this in your own journal, regardless of your ability level- or not as you wish.

1. Marco/Jordan for [livejournal.com profile] rattyjol
2. Eva for [livejournal.com profile] lisacharly
3. Puck/Lauren for [livejournal.com profile] smiley_face86
4. Kristie/Li for [livejournal.com profile] infernalearache
5. Rachel and Jake for [livejournal.com profile] natural_blue_26
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

Somehow I doubt I'll even get ten. I'm only committing to minifics (think, like, within an LJ comment length) but obviously if your prompt is just SO BRILLIANT it could turn into more. Also, limiting the fandoms to Glee/Animorphs/LotR/Lost, because I DON'T want to have to do research, lol.

Meme ganked from [livejournal.com profile] rattyjol of awesome Animorphs fic. =D

PS: Shelly...don't prompt my chapter, I'll get to it, I swear!

Lunch plans (Marqui's going to be in town yay!) tomorrow, followed by going out to my parents' for a cookout. My mother has guilted me into staying overnight and going to church with them Sunday morning. (She seriously offers EVERY DAMN TIME I go out there, "Oh, you don't have to drive home tonight, you could just stay!" And it's like...but I'm less than an hour away from MY bed, dammit.)

So DO NOT WANT. But she's kind of right, Dad's been helping a lot with the whole car thing, and teaching me to drive the stick shift (I think I've got it now). And she's all "It's FAAAAAATHER'S DAY."

Dammit.

Anyway they don't have internet, so yeah. Will likely not be online much/at all until Sunday evening.

Shelly: going to put your chapter on my iBook and take it with because they go to bed way early, but I make no promises.

ETA: When I get back, I am likely going to do a 30 Days of Klaine meme. You can blame Shelly.

So. It's basically American Idol, only instead of a recording contract the prize is a 7-ep role on Glee. (I imagine if your character got enough fanbuzz or whatnot you'd get to stay.) And it's entertaining enough--Darren was on there last night, there were four or five music numbers and IDK I'll probably be watching it faithfully because, let's face it, there's pretty much jack shit else on to watch anyway since most things are between seasons, and it'll help me survive the Glee summer hiatus.

(That and the concert movie coming out in August. Cannot. WAIT.)

I'm already rooting for Scottish Accent kid, and Girl Who Is 18 But Looks 10, and Big Fabulous Black Diva Guy, even though he's like...Kurt and Mercedes' lovechild?

Point being, I'm already kind of invested, and most/all of the people on there are interesting, and I'm not 100% sure who I want to win (ie who I actually want on the show).

And then I thought...what if they could pick more than one?

And then I thought...what if they could just use them all?

And then I thought...DAMMIT BRAIN I CANNOT WRITE A GLEE AU WITH TWELVE OCs BASED ON THESE PEOPLE. I CANNOT.

DOES MY BRAIN LISTEN?

No. OF COURSE NOT.

I am already scheming as to who ends up in Glee right away, who would take time to come around, who to pair up with whom (both with original castmembers and each other...)

Should I? It'd be like...my summer writing project. I'd wrap it up before the new season started, obviously, because MOST MASSIVE AU EVER. Also I don't have a plot per se but I would be open to taking feedback and running with it. I could write a chapter a week-ish. This would be my cast, lol.

Five Times Puck and Rachel Broke Up and the One Time They Didn't can be found here, at the bottom. Prompted by [livejournal.com profile] smiley_face86. =D

It's (obviously) Puckleberry, but there's a smattering of Kurt/Klaine references. =)
rena_librarian: (Default)
Mother's Day-themed Klaine fluff can be found here, at the bottom of the page: Family Dynamic

I got it up before I went to bed on Mother's Day. It still counts, right?
rena_librarian: (Default)
Both my competition-winning fic, Rachel's Last Stand, and a new Animorphs ficlet, Poetic Justice, can be found here. LOOKIT MY SHINY BANNER. IT MATCHES. AND IT WASN'T EVEN PLANNED.

Piece of Glee art, here.

And new Glee fanfiction here: Blaine It On the Alcohol. This is...mostly fluff and gap-filling. But it was fun to picture and fun to write.

Just spoke with the mod, and the poll will be open until about 5 AM, my time. (Central time. GMT -6 and whatnot.) The voting is so close they wanted to be sure and give the full week to vote, instead of cutting it short by a few hours. Because it might actually count.

So I'll be able to check in the morning while I get ready for work. There's no way I'm staying up, not when I have to work tomorrow, and it's already too late for me to go to bed early enough to get up that early. (I could try, but I'd snooze through my alarms, I know I would, and then I'd end up being late to work, so...yeah.)

On the bright side, win or lose, I'll be putting it on my website tomorrow after work.

AND another Glee fic that I revised tonight.

AND an Animorphs ficlet. (It's <400 words.) I'm the least sure about this one. It's dark and twisted and kind of..."adult." For me.

*IS DYING*

I leapt out of bed, almost literally, a few moments ago, when the thought struck me that I might be able to see whether or not I'd won.

Nope. Voting still open.

GAH.
rena_librarian: (Default)
They're supposed to announce the winner tomorrow.

So when are they gonna close the freaking poll???

*bites nails*

*not really, broke that habit a long time ago*

ZOMG

Who's obsessively refreshing the voting post to see what changes have taken place?

NOT ME. NO WAY. NOT AT ALL.

*halo*
rena_librarian: (axcinnabon)
The voting is up and OMG I wish I could tell you to vote for me. ASDFJKL!

The competition is even tighter than last time--last time there were 5-6 entries for each category. This time there are two fanarts and three fanfics. GAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. So I have a better shot, maybe? I'm reading the other entries now, already chose my vote for fanart.

ETA: Can't vote for myself, obvs. But voted, and saw who's voted for what...and OHHHH really the voting is going to last a week? I think I might die between now and then. *flails*

ETA2: It's here, if anyone's interested, but again, I can't say which entry is mine. I really want to win so I can put the banner on my site when I post it! =D

http://www.rena-librarian.com/

That is all.

(Oh, and if you go here, there's a never-before-published Glee fanfic: "The Sex Talk." In which Blaine insists that Kurt needs...educating, and then Burt wonders just why Blaine was so insistent that Kurt needed...educating.)

(Also, while there's an Animorphs fic section set up, it is sadly empty so far. But I'm working on it!)

(And if you encounter anything not working, please let me know!)

sigh

Website still pending. I used GoDaddy's instructions this time, even though they said almost exactly the same thing. =/ If it hasn't switched to the Weebly placeholder by 6 PM Tuesday I'll call them.

My Animorphs fic has been accepted to the competition! I'd say vote for me, but it's all anonymous and telling you which fic is mine would get me booted, so...yeah. (Also, voting hasn't started. Deadline is like three weeks from tomorrow.)
rena_librarian: (Default)
It is STILL somehow not linked to Weebly yet, after more than 48 hours. Contacted GoDaddy support last night and they have emailed back instructions; I'll try that, and if nothing has happened in 48 more hours, then I'll just straight up call them. =/

I guess it's okay since there's three pages left to be built anyway and I'm waiting on code from Cody for that. But grr.

In the meantime, basking in the Klaine goodness that can be found on DeviantArt. (Muchacha10 is like my new favorite person. Klaine as Disney princes? YESPLZ.)

Oh and I have seriously got to get some writing done. GAH. Hopefully Shelly won't kill me.

A couple days ago I finished an Animorphs fic that I was writing just because the idea hit me, but it occurred to me that it could very well work for the [livejournal.com profile] animorphs Fanfic/Fanart competition, which is good because if it wins I would have a nice shiny banner to put on my site, but is also kind of bad because it means I can't publish it until the contest is over (which won't be for something like two months). I need to send it in because there's a slight chance that it doesn't quite fit the theme (it does and it doesn't, in my mind) and if it's going to get rejected I want plenty of time to do a new entry. SO nervous. I did message the mod over there and based on what I told...him? Her? I'm not sure, now that I think about it...anyway, I was told that it sounded like it might work. GAH. Sending now.

Well, frankly, I do this all the time. If I'm reading or writing something and a certain song fits the mood of what I'm doing, I'll put it on repeat. (It's the ONLY way to write songfic, for sure.) I've been known to do this with new Glee songs just because I actually want to hear them that much. Eight of my top ten played songs in iTunes are Glee, and "Baby It's Cold Outside" is the only thing that's reached triple-digit plays. (My playcounts were all reset to zero when I had to reformat my computer last time, but still. That's been a while now.)

That being said, when I don't have a hankering for one particular song, my preferred method of listening to music is to have my entire library on shuffle.
