Yay for work!
Oct. 8th, 2007 11:25 amSo we're in the new building.
Amazingly, the phones and internet are up. (I figured at least one of the two wouldn't be working.)
However, our online calling database is inaccessible. (I'm not entirely sure of why, but it seems to involve a malfunctioning piece of hardware and a call center in...India?...)
So I pretty much have nothing to do. I'm creating work for myself just to pass the time. I'm going to go to lunch here shortly. I was going to stay late today since I'm only working half a day tomorrow (the movers are coming in the morning), but I think I may stay late the REST of the week rather than today. XD Unless, of course, QIC comes back up. According to Brad (one of the tech guys, nice guy) it could POSSIBLY be up this afternoon but it'll PROBABLY be tomorrow morning.
Except for Wednesday, when I have to BE at my house at 4:30 so my internet can be re-hooked-up. Get this: the lady disconnected my internet as soon as I asked her to have it transferred, they can't hook it back up until Wednesday, I have to BE THERE when he hooks it up (which I swear I didn't when they hooked it up initially). And for all this inconvenience, they're CHARGING ME $20!! >_< Grr.
Anyway. So yeah, killing time to get my hours for the week, still moving at home but should be done tomorrow evening at the latest (other than cleaning the place in order to preserve my security deposit ^_^). Will be back online guaranteed as of Wednesday evening.

So we have to put our names into our phones for the dial-a-name feature. BUT MY NAME IS TOO LONG BY ONE LETTER.
I have been reduced to S STROBEL.
*cries*
(Though it beats SARAH STROBE. But only by a tiny margin.)
I could totally leave any time, Terry okayed it for my whole department. (He didn't even bother coming in today...he, in his great psychic-osity, probably knew that no one would actually be able to work. XD) And I have nothing to do, so maybe I should...but I need the $$$. I think. ...yeah, rent comes out of the check I'm earning now.
My cubicle is right in the line of sight of Ladell's office. Ladell being the mother of Liz, the girl whose job I took. I mean, yeah, Liz quit, and Ladell and I get along great, but still. Lol. She did threaten to shoot spitwads at whatever cubicles she was in range of. XD I told her that was fine if I could retaliate with a big squirt gun.
I'm also between Linda and Ashley, which is nice, and now I'm two cubes down from Crazy Betty, which is debatably nice. She cracked me up pretty often, though, I might miss it. Lol.
The building isn't finished; the bathrooms lack stalls and they're still working on the upstairs (conference rooms, and Harvey--the big boss's--office, IIRC). And there's an entire warehouse space they're still finishing up. And the break room. Lol. But there's a table with coffee machines so I'm good. (My mother bought me a coffee cup that says "Instant human: just add coffee," and I'm not sure that she realized how true it's becoming. I didn't want to start a coffee addiction but I have to say I really can tell the difference as to whether or not I've had my caffeine boost!)
I've gotten more compliments on my bowling pin trophy today than you could possibly imagine. XD I'm exaggerating. But still.
OMG. When I got here this morning there was a construction truck labeled LULL. And I couldn't help but think that they DID IT FOR THE LULLZ. ZOMG I'M LAME!

Lunch hour musings...you can't be offended by something that doesn't mean anything to you. Therefore...you choose to be offended by assigning meaning to things? Ie, being offended is always by choice? Hmm. Maybe. Interesting to think about at any rate.
I have to go back to...aheh...work now.
