I'm in St. Louis and it's lateish. I ought to go to sleep because we're getting up and going to church in the morning, but I'm not quite tired. I'll go to sleep as soon as I finish this up, though.
So the five-hour drive--alone--went without a hitch, obviously no one ran over me on the freeway. Yay! Actually, it was, like, 7 by the time I came through, so the worst of the rush hour was over and it was pretty clear.
I didn't take any wrong turns except for at the very end, Dad had told me wrong and I got off the highway one exit too early, but once I got off the highway I recognized a grocery store and was able to get here anyway, just not on the highway. So YAY! I never got lost.
The impressive part: I filled my tank up in Flippin (20 minutes from my house) and didn't have to buy any more gas at all. Granted, I'm down to a quarter-tank-ish, but I'm still pleased. (So, Nico, other than the driving we do while we're there, we could feasibly get to Chicago and back on 3.5 to 4 tanks. Yay!) Especially since the gas prices ROSE as I went north rather than DROPPING like I expected. (Well, there was one dip just past Mtn. Home, but I hadn't even dropped a bar on my gas gague by that point!)
I had to make some stops in Mtn. Home but once I left Wal*Mart, I didn't stop again until I got here. (Well, I did go to the Sonic in--I s**t you not--Licking, Missouri and buy a slush, but I went through the drive-through so technically that wasn't a stop.) Made great time, really. Left the house at 20 to 2 and got here at 8, and that was with the four stops, which probably ate up an hour or a little more.
And, while my butt's still kind of sore, I didn't get bored at all. Yay! I listened to two different CD's and then once I got close and needed to concentrate on lane changes, I left "Play" by Jennifer Lopez on repeat until I got here.
So today's been a good day. ^_^ I do believe I like roadtrips!
