Yes. You're SUPPOSED to email it. I don't CARE.

Here is the 2005 edition of getting to know your friends. What you are supposed to do is copy (not forward) this entire e-mail and paste it onto a new mail that you'll send. Change all the answers so they apply to you, and then send this to a whole bunch of people including the person who sent it to you. The theory is that you will learn a lot of little things about your friends, if you did not know them already.

1. What time did you get up this morning? 11, when Shelly called me. (I closed last night! I worked on my chapter! I didn't go to sleep until almost 4!)
2. Diamonds or pearls? Oooh, sparkly...diamonds, hands down.
3. What was the last film you saw? "Robots" at the theater, "Phantom of the Opera" at Shelly's. The last thing I re-watched was "50 First Dates."
4. What are your favorite TV shows? LOST! MythBusters. Home Improvement. I never get to watch TV anymore, I'm always working. *sniff*
5. What did you have for breakfast? Pizza...it was more of a brunch...
6. What is your middle name? NOT TELLING!
7. What is your favorite cuisine? Italian. (Pasta, pizza...what more could you want?)
8. What foods do you dislike? It's a really long list.
9. What is your favorite crisp flavor baked chips? Plain old Ripples.
10. What is your favorite CD at the moment? AT THE MOMENT, "Astronaut" by Duran Duran. I just bought it Monday. I'm so happy that an 80's band is back together. I love 80's music.
11. What kind of car do you drive? 1990 Chrysler Le Baron convertible!!!
12. Favorite sandwich? PB&J.
13. What do you despise? I could make a list, but to sum it up in one word...stupidity.
14. Favorite item of clothing? My purple hoodie. *bemoans the heat that keeps her from wearing it*
15. If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation, where would you go? Where's Elijah Wood right this moment?
16. What color is your bathroom? Purple.
17. Favorite brand of clothing? Brands are icky. ^_^
18. Where would you like to retire to? Oh...England, I think. London.
19. Favorite time of the day? Night time is the right time. ^_^ 1-2 AM.
20. What was your most memorable birthday? 18, when we went glow-in-the-dark-mini-golfing. ^_^
22 Favorite sport to watch? I hate sports.
23. What fabric detergent do you use? You say that like I do the laundry! Well, sometimes, but I don't buy the soap. I think Mom just gets whatever's on sale...
24. Coke or Pepsi? Pepsi! But only if it has vanilla or lime in it. Coke? Eww.
25. Are you a morning person or a night owl? Night owl, totally.
26. What is your shoe size? 10-12, depending on how wide they are. I think I may be going down a shoe size, too, though...
27. Do you have any pets and what are they? Nope. I WANT FISHIES!
28. Any new and exciting news you'd like to share? I HAVE A CAAAAA-AAAAAR! It's a convertible! WHEE!
29. What did you want to be when you were little? President. Duh. Still wouldn't mind if it happened, but it's not what I'm aiming for.
30. Favorite flower? Jonquil/daffodil/narcissus, my birthflower. Anything simple like tulips or lilies or rosebuds (I don't care for roses in full bloom, though).
31. Last book read? Um...*ponders* "Muggie Maggie" by Beverly Cleary. There's a book meme coming in the next post so see that for the details. Currently reading "Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Novels and Stories." I'm about 2/3 of the way through volume one of two.
32. Favorite holiday? Christmas, hands down.

The sad thing is I filled it out on Tuesday night and it's already changed.

1) Total number of books owned?

855. But that's counting a 20-volume encyclopedia as one book and a few, like my dictionary, not at all. ^_^ So pushing 900, TECHNICALLY. I've read 589 of them, 33 are "reference" books (not the kind you sit and read, but the kind you skim and look stuff up in, for example, Mysteries and Marvels of Nature), and the other 209 I've yet to read. (This is what comes of buying books 20 at a time at thrift stores! I had it down to just over 100 at one point...but the pile has been in existence since the summer of 1999...)

2) The last book I bought?

Hmm...*ponders* I bought two, what were they? The Long Secret by Louise Fitzhugh, which is the sequel to Harriet the Spy, but what was the other one??? It was something by Beverly Cleary or Judy Blume, I think...OH! Muggie Maggie, by Beverly Cleary.

3) The last book I read?

I'm "reading" about ten right now (I'm rather stuck on Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Novels and Stories, Volume I and tend not to read any of the others, lol), but the last book I finished was Muggie Maggie by Beverly Cleary. Read it in an hour. (Actually, REread it, lol.) I like to have all the classic stuff that *I* grew up reading so it'll be around for Maddy and the boys when they hit that age. And because I like to reread it once in a while, too...

4) Five books that mean a lot to me?

Wow...ONLY five??? Lol...

-The Hobbit and the LotR trilogy (which, as far as I'm concerned, is only one book anyway ^_^) by J.R.R. Tolkien. Most books you read and you're done, but I distinctly remember the "year" I read them. (Took me from February to August to read all four, lol.) I remember other things that happened because they happened during that chunk of time, lol. It's just one of those things...you laugh at yourself for how obsessed you are, but then you feel that you've got something WORTH the time you put into it. It can't really be explained.

-The Animorphs series, by K.A. Applegate, particularly the special The Andalite Chronicles. If you've followed the series even a little (I'd only read one other of the normal series books when I read it) it clears up so many of the CONNECTIONS. Plus, I read it all in one 2 1/2 hour sitting, and after I finished it I had to just lay on my bed for ten minutes because I was so emotionally drained (which is the phrase I invented to explain that particular feeling you get when you're just...blown away). Also, I love to read books about alien life that get into how other beings perceive us and how we're sometimes ridiculous. (One of my favorite parts is when an alien discovers a fashion magazine and sees an ad for cigarettes, and wonders what they are, and when he finally has it explained to him, he says, "So beautiful humans go to beautiful places and partake of sickening cylinders?" Or something to that effect, lol.)

-The Greatest Miracle In the World by Og Mandino. (I'll actually say ANYTHING by Og Mandino even though I've only read two of his books so far--those two were so promising and my dad says they're all on the same level. I have three more to read in my gi-normous to-read pile.) Sci-fi-ish, kind of, but so, so touching on so many levels. It plays on the fleetingness of life and the relativity of things...again, almost impossible to explain the feeling.

-What Dreams May Come by Richard Matheson. The theology is all wrong, of course, but the idea that a man would trade Heaven for Hell just to be with his wife...wow. (The book ends better than the movie!!!) (Also, Somewhere In Time by him, but that's really more for the story than its commentary on life or love or anything.)

-The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery. As much as I love her Anne octet (Anne of Green Gables and so on), THIS is her finest work. It's about a girl (woman, really, she's 29) who's lived under the thumb of her superstrict family all her life, but then she's told that she's dying, so she basically tells the family, "Screw you, I'm doing what I want," and DOES IT. It's a lovely commentary on how you need to live your life for yourself and not do what's expected of you. (Not to give away the ending, but of course it's happy. ^_^) Does this heroine sound like anyone you know? ^_-

5) Tag 5 people and have them fill this out on their LJs:

Yeah, like that works. You get two to actually do it and the others who don't give a crap. Whatever. But let's pick five anyway...
