Needless to say, I'm in the world's greatest mood right about now. ^_^

I SO <3 my car!!

Ish silver. 1990 (younger than I am, that was my only age requirement). Chrysler Le Baron. Did I mention CONVERTIBLE???

Seems much younger than it is, if I'd driven it and then had to guess I would've said it was a '95 or '97. It was the family's "toy" car, the guy had "always wanted a convertible" and they only drove it occasionally. It's barely got 100,000 miles on it (which is WAY low for a car that old) and it gets pretty good mileage (better than the van). Runs beautifully, no noises, the top goes up and down easily (with the push of a button!!!) and doesn't leak, the interior is nice (and--YAY!--no cigarette smell, that would've been a deal-breaker for me) and clean...just YAY YAY YAY all around. Dad is happy because it's in good shape, Mom is happy because it's in good shape and suits me so well, and I'm happy because...

I HAVE A PRETTY CAR.

In case anyone's wondering, it was the PRETTY CAR I mentioned in my LJ before.

The story...found two cars in the classifieds on Thursday night. This one, and another that I didn't want quite so badly. Dad and I (we'd both just gotten off work Friday night) were about 10 minutes late to meet the other-car-guy, and he wasn't there when we showed up, so we went on to this one. The guy wasn't home but MY car *mine mine mine mine...SQUEE!* was sitting out where we could look at it, which we did, and when we couldn't find him (we tried ringing the doorbell and such) we left, but I told Dad, "I *WANT* it." ^_^ We cruised a few used-car dealerships but they were ALL closed. (On a Friday night??? So weird. Still can't figure that out.)

So anyway. We called the guy and asked if we could come out again today. We stopped at two dealerships where there were some "possibilities." At the first one the guy was kind of rude. I passed it off as, "Well, duh, he's a USED CAR SALESMAN, he's SUPPOSED to be that way..." and Dad was all, "We are NEVER going to buy ANY car from him!" Whatever. We still had another dealer and MY CAR to look at so I didn't get too upset at him for it. We went to the other dealer and there was STILL no one there (at 1:00 on a SATURDAY???). So we went on to the convertible, the guy was home this time, we test-drove it, and I bought it. ^_^ (That's kind of condensed but the interim conversations weren't the most intellectually stimulating one I've ever had, lol.)

I don't get it until Monday. I mean, technically, it's mine now, the man already has my check (my poor bank account! GAH!...I was hoping to make payments, but Dad pointed out that if you're making payments your insurance goes through the roof, so it kind of balances out anyway, so I paid cash), but with license plates and titles and insurance issues and all that, we have some running around to do on Monday before I can really claim it.

Figure out minor details like how to turn on headlights/blinkers/winshield wipers, etc
Go to work and show off
Go to Wal*Mart and scope out prices of seat covers, steering wheel covers, etc. (maybe buy)
Buy second portable CD player to leave in car? (definitely at least later)
Get CD player set up (BRING RUBBER BANDS!)
Find out if cigarette lighter adapter turns off when car turns off
Go online and look into price of Middle-Euros/Frodo and Sam for President bumper stickers
