Your Mexican Name Is...

Doña Alicia

Hehehe, that be my SISTER'S name! Alicia. *sniggle* (Dona is simply an equivalent of Mrs. or "Lady." *is proud of horribly small amount of Spanish learned during her Zorro days*)

I'm staying with Debbie again tonight because I have to be at a meeting at work at 7. AM. So. Wrong. The good news is I can come in my regular clothes, don't have to be in uniform, so I'm wearing my "Employee of the Month" shirt. Teehee. ^_^

Gah. There's some girls at work trying to get me and Robert togehter. GAH. GAH. GAH. The thing of it is this--I. Do. NOT. Like. Him. That. Way. Nor. Could. I. Bring. Myself. To. Do. So. Even. If. He. DID. Meet. The. Basic. Criteria. Which. He. Does. Not. As. Far. As. I. Can. Tell.

I don't think he's a Christian, not really. He doesn't go to church. (Though I could be wrong about that, but let's put it this way--he's not an OBVIOUS Christian.)

But besides THAT, even...it's just...he's not...ATTRACTIVE. And I feel really shallow and all for saying that, but the *spark* is just not there, you know? We get along great and we can talk, but, like, to think of kissing him? Eww. It's just ICKY, and I don't think I could do it. Especially not my first kiss and all... And I'm the last person who should be saying this, it's SO the pot calling the kettle black, but it's because he's so...big. Fat.

Can I say in my defense that he is almost literally twice my size???! Think...Hurley. With short blond hair and glasses, and minus the rapier wit. (Oh, and minus the ability to grow facial hair.) He IS really smart, though, good with math, lucky duck. He wants to be an astrophysicist and work at NASA.

But the thing of it is this: I am not capable of flirting. Can't do it. Have tried and failed. But once I know there is no chance with a given guy (like guys that are taken or Nico, 'cause he's gay, or if I don't like him, as is the case here), it's really easy for me to talk to them. However, the girls at work do not KNOW this and perceive my ease at talking with Robert as flirting. So they think we need to go out.

Why? What do he and I have in common??? (The man doesn't like to READ, for Eru's sake!) What, is it that we're both fat so we should resign ourselves to the fact that no one else will go out with either of us and just go with each other? Is that it?

And, you know, if they were being mature about it, it wouldn't even bother me so much. But they're being totally seventh-grade about it and it's annoying. Like, Jacie came to me while I was clocking in and said,

J: You know, you should ask Robert out.
S (me): No. Why???
J: You just SHOULD!

*later, WHILE ROBERT IS STANDING THERE*
J: Sarah, you should ask Robert out. He likes you!
R: *no visible response other than maybe a raised eyebrow*
S: No.
J: Come on!

*later, after they've clocked out and me and Robert are still working front counter*
J (to R): Come on. Pleeeeeeease!
R: No!
J: Please?
R: Stop asking.

*sigh* Last night Nico told me he'd heard that there was something going on with me and Robert and I explained the above to him. Gah. *sniggle* He was all, "What's up?" and I said, "Not much." He's all, "You know, there's NEVER anything going on with you. You need some DRAMA in your life." I just rolled my eyes and said, "I need a BOYFRIEND." That's how the convo got started.

Anyway. I told him about Tim and the GIRLFRIEND. Gah. Later he asked me, "Who here do you plan on asking out this month?" which gave me the chance to discover that employees ARE allowed to date each other! The no-dating-coworkers thing that I thought was in place applies to managment. Ta-da! So if there WAS a guy at work that wouldn't be holding me back. WHEE!

But gah. NOT Robert.

Nico maybe. Remember what I said about his being a straight, nonsmoking Christian? Well, pretty soon we'll only be down to TWO obstacles! He's going to try to quit smoking this weekend! *and the peasants rejoice...right, [livejournal.com profile] gamgeefest? ^_-*

Anyway.

I bought Shelly's ([livejournal.com profile] smileyface_86) birthday present today! ^_^ I found it and she just HAS to have it. It's too perfect! (It's so perfect I got one for me, too, lol...I tend to do that with her presents...) I'd say what it is but she reads this thing occasionally, lol.

And Shelly--I swear, IF we do another scavenger hunt, we'll do it at a decent hour, like noon. Or make you stay up until three AM or something. But we won't wake you early again. That was too hard to be worth it, lol.

The library's closing. Let me copy-and-paste my Lost stuff from DLBE and then I'm outtie!
