It always rains on my good hair days...

In short, I've been busy and will continue to be busy all this week, I will see you on Friday with more details. ^_-

And next week we're going to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving! WOOT! (But I'll probably be online Monday and Tuesday.)

Your American Thanksgiving is way to close to Christmas!

thanksgiving kind of kick-starts the Christmas season for us here.

[identity profile] thehobbitwaffle.livejournal.com 2006-11-17 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. I prefer lots of holidays spread apart ^^

[identity profile] taethowen.livejournal.com 2006-11-17 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
but if it wasn't there, there would be some other holiday it was interfering with . . . because there's Christmas in December, Valentine's day in February, Easter in March/April, Memorial Day and Mother's Day in May, Father's Day in June, Independence Day in July, Labor Day in September, and Halloween in October. And then Thanksgiving in November :D.

My conclusion: the American people have waaaaaaaaay too many holidays.

You should see the French!

Also theirs, Martin Luther King Day (or Robert E. Lee day) in January, and only half of them do we get out of school or off work for. Also there's...
President's day in Feb, St. Patrick's day in March, April Fool's day (not really a holiday in my opinion), and their's Bastille day which doesn't get observed in America and Arbor day in August (I think Arbor day is in august but I could be wrong)

[identity profile] rena-librarian.livejournal.com 2006-11-27 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't Arbor Day in May? Or am I thinking of the not-often-observed Earth Day? (There was a commercial for that when I was a kid, lol.)

Jup. It's always on a Thursday, and the day after is known as Black Friday--all the stores have huge sales (many of them 6am to noonish) and it's the first official day of the Christmas shopping season.

Really? The only way Canadians can tell is when the toy commercials start.

EEE!! Oklahoma! where?

[identity profile] rena-librarian.livejournal.com 2006-11-21 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
Close to YOU, actually! I want to say that they actually live in Broken Arrow, and isn't that the part of Tulsa you're in?

But I doubt I'll be able to get away from the family, as it's our one car for me, my parents, and my grandpa.

[identity profile] taethowen.livejournal.com 2006-11-21 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
eeeeee, yes, I'm in BA! *pout* but you're so close . . . we have to at least wave to each other out a window or something . . .

We're having thanksgiving at my grandparents (also in broken arrow). Wouldn't it be weird if they lived in the same neighborhood? lol

Do you know where the Wolf Creek subdivision is? ^_^

BTW, is you dad's name Art? If so, I have your phone number. ^_^

We're actually getting ready to leave, I need to get off the computer.

[identity profile] taethowen.livejournal.com 2006-11-25 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
the name Wolf Creek rings a bell . . . I don't recall where it is right off hand.

and yes, my dad's name is Art :D. In which case you have the house phone that's moody and decides to work only half the time . . . I can give you my cell number though if you want it :P

[identity profile] rena-librarian.livejournal.com 2006-11-27 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Heeheehee...it'll take me like six weeks to work up the guts to call anyway. ^_^ Email it, though, it's safer.

I'd tell you where it is, but we never left the house until we, you know, LEFT, so I didn't really get a chance to learn the street names. 169th Street seems to stick in my head, though--I think we had to turn there to get back toe the highway or something. (Clearly I was not allowed to drive. Pff.) I know their house is on Dogwood Place, but that's within the subdivision, lol.

And one of these days I'll have to come by myself and make a point of meeting up with you. And if I was invited to the wedding, I would have a place to stay... ^_-

[identity profile] taethowen.livejournal.com 2006-11-28 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
lol. 169th rings a bell, too, but I can't remember where it is . . .

[identity profile] taethowen.livejournal.com 2006-12-01 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
lol
